Our culture

You can make things happen. You’re in the driver’s seat, enabled by open communication and collaboration at all levels. Be part of a people-first team where you’ll work collaboratively with others who bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to achieve great outcomes.

Act with integrity

We do things the right way, not only asking whether we can, but also, if we should? And we’re brave enough to make the right decision, even when it’s the hard decision.

Aim high

We strive for excellence, adapt and innovate, and believe continuous improvement enables us to deliver outstanding results.

Collaborate

Working at Challenger means caring, trusting and respecting each other. We promote inclusivity and diversity to achieve shared goals.

Think customer

Our customers are the focus of our decision making, and we know all roles at Challenger play a part in achieving great outcomes.

An inclusive and progressive culture, where everyone can be themselves and be at their best, every day.

Diversity, equity and inclusion

Our people come from all walks of life, have different interests and expectations, and believe in different things. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where being yourself provides a sense of belonging and individual differences are respected. Our DEI Strategy is owned by our people, chaired by our CEO and delivered by our D&I Committee who reflect our diversity in age, cultural background, disability, gender and LGBTQI+ community.

Gender equality

Gender equality can only be achieved when all employees are equally valued, rewarded by role, and able to access the same opportunities. Our Gender Equality Strategy has three key areas of focus: gender balance, work/life integration and gender pay equity. Challenger continues to be an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality and is proud to be a certified Family Inclusive Workplace. Pay equity remains an important focus for Challenger and we are committed to reducing our gender pay gap.
sustainability

Sustainability

At Challenger, being sustainable is about addressing issues and embracing opportunities that have the potential to impact the financial security of our customers. Our corporate sustainability strategy supports the delivery of our business strategy and reflects our most material social, environmental and governance opportunities.
Innovation

Innovation

We know that our people have great ideas. Our Imaginate program provides a process, for our people to pitch their great ideas and get funded to make it happen. Imaginate is just one way our people are able to impact outcomes, make decisions and be accountable.
helping others

Helping others

Volunteering is a meaningful way for our people to contribute back to the communities we live in. We provide one day of paid leave each calendar year to volunteer at a not-for-profit organisation or for an environmental, community or charitable project. Good2Give is our workplace giving platform. Our people contribute to the charity of their choice – there are over 2000 charities on the platform – and we match donations up to the value of $500 a year.

Social

Our people come together regularly to get to know each other and have fun. Challenger’s active social committee, known as Our Community, facilitates social connection, collaboration and community. Bringing people from across all business units together, it creates fun and inclusive events that bring our culture to life.
